There is no chamber cut that I can tell that would give it away as being a.30-06 or something so I'm assuming it's an 8MM but I definitely would love to know if I'm anywhere close with that assumption. I have several questions.ġ) Is there any way to tell exactly what model FN Mauser it is from the serial number? 2) Is there any way to tell the date of manufacture from the serial number?ģ) There is no caliber stamped on the rifle. The rifle is just purely beautiful, but I think it's been sporterized (Kind of short stock+scope rings). I have the opportunity to buy an FN Mauser from a co-worker at my new job. What I also find odd is that there are no serial number markings on your rifle that looks to be built in 1951. It could very well be that the sample shown from the Mauser Central picture may have had the serial numbers added to it. It appears as maybe if the FN Mauser did not originally have any serial numbers on it when 1st built. Called its rifles and carbines original Mausers to distinguish them from. ![]() Sporting versions with actions of Model 98 design were produced by the Mauser Co.
